The magic of Disney has flown into Birmingham with the arrival of Disney's Aladdin at the Birmingham Hippodrome. After its incredible 10 year run in the West End and Broadway the show is touring the UK for the first time ever.

If you didn't know already the story it follows  the mischievous Aladdin who wants more from the poor life he leads. He soon bumps into Princess Jasmine and the pair feel their whole worlds could soon change for the better. Aladdin finds a magical lamp with a genie inside who can grant him three wishes, but the evil Jafar has other plans for the lamp and wishes to take over the kingdom of Agrabah.

Adam Strong's take on Jafar gives panto vibes throughout with his fantastic evil laugh but couldn't work without his trusted sick kick Lago played by Angelo Paragoso. The pair together work wonders together with their comedic style and silly humour.

Desmonda Cathabel's make for a perfect Princess Jasmine with her beauty, confidence and stunning voice. Aladdin is played by Gavin Adams which marks his professional debut with an impressive performance in the show. His voice, energy and charm make for one of the best Disney's princes. The pair bring together incredible chemistry on stage to make the story so believable. They really bring to life the characters we know and love.

Though what would Aladdin be with his Genie? Well Yeukayi Ushe brings the character alive to a whole new level. When he hits the stage for his big number of 'Friend Like Me' the audience couldn't control themselves. Ushe brings the voice, the moves and the laughs you want from your favourite genie to the big stage.

The production of this show is fantastic. The sets might start off simple but become breathtaking to look at, the costumes are packed with colours & gems and that famous scene you are all thinking of is just a whole new world to watch. Overall a stunningly beautiful musical with an undeniably talented cast.

I love a good musical and Aladdin isn't one I would have normally gone to see but I am so glad I did! This is a show the whole family can enjoy from start to finish.

Disney's Aladdin runs from Thursday 10th October to Sunday 3rd November at the Birmingham Hippodrome.
